Marrying whimsy with the grim streets of Gotham and the wider DC Universe requires a deft touch, and the developers here navigate that balance with aplomb.

As with any stellar LEGO experience, the game offers a cornucopia of sound effects that cling to the memory like cobwebs to the Batcave's darkest corners. LEGO games have a signature sound design that is both cartoonish and gratifying, perfectly underscoring the muffled thwacks and digital chimes of studs - the game's currency - being collected. Meanwhile, the graphics retain that blocky, yet finely-detailed LEGO aesthetic, injected with a colorful palette that breathes life into both iconic characters and obscure fan-favorites. The art style remains faithful to the caped crusader's universe while exuding the playful charm expected from LEGO ventures.
